In an interview with the Czech publication TN.CZ, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya discussed potential triggers for changes in Belarus and the efforts being made to free political prisoners.
Here are the key points from the interview:
📌 “We do not rule out that Putin might repeat what he did in 2022. But if that happens, Belarusians will respond, and the consequences for Putin and Lukashenka could be serious. The best thing the democratic world can do is to continue supporting Ukraine and Belarus. Belarus can change the game in this crisis”.
📌 “As far as we know, more than 1,500 Belarusians have joined Belarusian military units fighting on the side of Ukraine. We maintain contact with Belarusian volunteer fighters, cooperate, and try to support them. I am proud of Belarusians fighting for Ukraine”.
📌 “Putin and Lukashenka have taken nine million Belarusians hostage with their policies. Strengthening Russian control over Belarus will pose a constant threat to the European continent. Therefore, changes in Belarus are not just a matter of democracy but also of the security of all of Europe”.
📌 “Belarus is de facto occupied by the Kremlin. Lukashenka is selling our country to Russia piece by piece. We are witnessing the Russification of all spheres of life; Russia is destroying the Belarusian national identity and our European identity”.
