Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Today marks 28 years since one of the most prominent Belarusian organizations, Viasna, was founded. Over almost three decades of tireless work, the human rights center has united the destinies of countless people who need each other.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to its establishment and work. To dozens of dedicated human rights defenders and activists, among whom are Nobel laureate Ales Bialiatski, winners of the Homo Homini award Marfa Rabkova, Leanid Sudalenka, Tatsiana Lasitsa, Andrei Chapiuk, and many others.
To the thousands of brave Belarusians who turn to Viasna for help in defending their rights, and to those who provide volunteer and financial support to the center’s work – thank you.
Every employee and every volunteer of Viasna does hard and dangerous daily work. But we all need it. I admire your dedication and courage. Thank you for everything you have done to defend human rights in Belarus and continue to do now in spite of everything”.
