During the World Economic Forum, the Belarusian leader visited the Google House in Davos, where she met with the company’s Vice President, Anette Kroeber-Riel. They discussed several issues related to Belarus, after which Ms. Tsikhanouskaya handed over a list of specific requests from Belarusian journalists and civil society.
In particular, the requests included:
- Prioritization of Belarusian content over Russian for users in Belarus.
- Localization of Google services for Belarus.
- Support for Belarusian-language content.
- Provision of Google tools and training for media and civil society.
- Launch of a Belarusian interface for Gmail.
At the end of the conversation, Anette Kroeber-Riel and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya agreed to have the next meeting during the Munich Security Forum on February 16-18.
