  • Support for political prisoners and international cooperation: Key topics of meetings at Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office in Lithuania

    March 20, 2026

In recent days, the Director of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office in Lithuania, Dzianis Kuchynski, held a series of meetings with both Lithuanian politicians and international partners in Vilnius. The focus was on aid for political prisoners and practical ways to provide assistance.

During meetings with international partners, further steps were outlined to develop cooperation in several areas.

    With Irish Ambassador Seadhna MacHugh

Dzianis Kuchynski thanked Ireland for its €20,000 contribution to the International Humanitarian Fund, which is important for supporting political prisoners after their release. Ireland became the eleventh participating country in the Fund. The sides also agreed to hold a bilateral conference in Ireland in 2026 focused on national identity and culture.

    With French Ambassador Lucie Stepanyan

The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation between the French Embassy and the Vilnius Office, discussing possible cultural projects and joint events in Vilnius.

With Italian Ambassador Emanuele de Maigret

The parties discussed the implementation of agreements following Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s visit to Italy, during which she called on Italy to join the International Humanitarian Fund. Dzianis Kuchynski continued the dialogue in this direction.

With Norwegian Ambassador Atle Konta Midttun

Dzianis Kuchynski provided updated information on the work of the International Humanitarian Fund, which was established at Norway’s initiative. They also discussed further cooperation, including a possible conference on energy security.

Dzianis Kuchynski: “Vilnius remains a key diplomatic hub for our work, as well as one of the main centers of Belarusian democratic forces and civil society. Therefore, it is important for us not only to maintain established contacts but also to consistently expand cooperation with our partners”.
