Day One of the New Belarus Conference took place in Warsaw on August 8. It brought together representatives of Belarus’s democratic forces, civil society, media, initiatives, diaspora, and international partners.
Throughout the day, participants:
- discussed how the democratic forces can make use of new opportunities and maintain political momentum;
- discussed cooperation with Ukraine and Belarusians’ contribution to countering Russian aggression;
- took part in debates on strategy, priorities, and next steps;
- discussed preparations for future change in Belarus, democratic transition, reforms, security, and the country’s return to its European path;
- continued conversations on the sidelines, exchanged contacts, and discussed joint projects.
The day proved that the Belarusian democratic community continues to come together, debate, seek solutions, and work together — in Belarus, in exile, and internationally.
The August 9 program includes discussions on security, human rights, education, youth, Belarusian identity, legal status, and social support, as well as presentations of projects by Belarusian initiatives.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Warsaw and online for Day One! See you tomorrow!
