On June 5, a friendly football match took place between Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office and the Lithuanian Seimas. Representing the Office were Franak Viacorka, Anatoli Liabedzka, and Dzianis Kuchynski, joined by civil society activists. Before the game, a solidarity action was held in support of Belarusian journalists who are imprisoned for their work of telling the truth.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Nearly 40 media workers are behind bars. The regime fears the truth, which is why it persecutes those who speak it. But freedom of speech and access to information are the foundations of any society. Release of all political prisoners is our main goal. And even such seemingly simple events as a football match are not just about sport. They’re about solidarity, unity, and a shared stance”.
