Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.
Here is an overview of the Movement on June 9.
Support for Belarusians and Ukrainians
- Through a series of Sports for Ukraine auctions, the Tribune raised more than $100,000 for Ukraine, which was immediately turned into real help for the country and for specific Ukrainians who are in distress because of the war. They continue with an outstanding set of lots from Andriy Shevchenko, Oleksandr Zinchenko and all the tops of Manchester City, Vitali Klitschko and many, many others.
- Belarusians from Vilnius took part in a rally in support of Ukraine.
- Belarusians from Bialystok held a friendly match of solidarity with political prisoner Aliaksandr Ivulin – “Krumkachy” football player and “Tribuna” journalist.
- The visit of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to Latvia continues. During the first day she met with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mayor of Riga, Members of Parliament and the Prime Minister. In all her meetings Ms.Tsikhanouskaya discusses the support of Belarusians.
- 99% of Belarusians in Poland do not support the regime, 94% of Belarusians in Poland support Ukraine in the war, 83% help Ukrainians. These and other facts are published in the study “Belarusians of Poland: Attitude to War, Assistance to Ukraine, Discrimination”. Read more here.
- A demonstration of solidarity with the detained representatives of Belarusian trade unions took place in Korea.
- Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke in the Parliament of Latvia: “Stalinist terror has returned to Belarus”.
- Today Valeriy Kavaleuski, the head of the Cabinet of Tsikhanouskaya’s Representatives, met in Kiev with Anton Herashchenko, advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. They discussed the extension and obtaining a new temporary residence permits, as well as the prospects for obtaining a legal status for Belarusians who are fighting against the Russian occupiers on the territory of Ukraine.
- Belarusians from Denmark and the ŻYVI Foundation collected food and household chemicals for Belarusians in Ukraine.
Resistance
- The Kastus Kalinouski regiment called on Belarusians who could not join the military association to enter the ranks of territorial defense and “people's militia” in Belarus.
- Natallia Dulina published a memo, in which she shares her experience of 4 detentions and days of imprisonment. She tells why publicity is needed, how the detention and so-called “trial” take place. Recently Natallia Dulina was detained for the fifth time.
- Belarusians of Minsk held a picket in support of Ukraine.
- Vitsebsk Partisans decorated the city with stickers with the national flag.
- Belarusians of Barauliany came out to the rally to say: we know who the enemy of Belarus is.
- Minsk residents of Loshitsa supported Ukraine.
- Belarusians of Chyzhouka Minsk region held a demonstration of solidarity with political prisoner Pavel Seviarynets.
Sabotage
- The Hajun monitoring project tracked the movements of Russian troops in Belarus for June 8.
- Hajun also reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for June 8. The topic of “Ukrainian grain” does not leave the main pages of the state media. Sanctions against the export of Belarusian potash fertilizers are “tied” to the situation with the export of Ukrainian grain.
Awareness campaign
- The Honest People initiative continues to “break through the dam” of the state information veil. Together with Aliaksandr “Maliavanych” Zhdanovich, they released a detailed and dynamic video tutorial on disarming propaganda “from scratch”.
- Volunteers of the Tsikhanouskaya Office have prepared a series of safety instructions. In this one, they talk about how to keep yourself safe with a VPN.
- A new issue of the local newspaper 7 Chizhei is out: it tells about the rallies in support of Belarusians, the story of political prisoner Dzianis Kuchynski, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's thoughts about our future, etc.
- Zelensky's adviser Oleksiy Arestovich published a post of love for Belarusians: “Many Belarusians help us in the war with Russia. A lot of Belarusians help us with intelligence. Disabling the railway infrastructure in areas where Russian weapons were supplied has played a significant role in defending Kyiv”.
