Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke at the University of Innsbruck before more than 1,000 people. The Belarusian leader used her own experiences to demonstrate how the events of 2020 were not only a story of struggle for freedom, but have also served as a unifying force for the people.
“At every meeting with the diaspora, at every zoom-call with Belarusians inside the country, I have this family feeling. We may have different backgrounds, professions, age, and gender. But our common cause and care about each other give us strength to continue. And this is something that the regime doesn’t have, and tries to deprive us of”, said Ms. Tsikhanouskaya in her address.
To mark the visit of the Belarusian leader, the university launched a scholarship program for Belarusians.
