Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Like many Belarusians, I have fond memories of Easter from childhood. It is eggs, Easter cake, smiling grandparents, and the whole family gathered around a table. People usually discuss family-related things at this table, not nuclear weapons or war. But the war is near, and nuclear weapons may soon be deployed in Belarus. And now it concerns all Belarusians.
And so we have to talk to our families about it. To explain the reason why Belarus is facing challenges to our grandmothers and grandfathers who believe what the TV says. It’s not some “attacks” that the “collective West” is doing, but the response to Lukashenka’s actions of seizing the power, repressing the people, and allowing Russia to use our territory to invade Ukraine. He is the exact cause of Belarus’ problems. It's hard to do, but we need people to know the truth and not let themselves be deceived – even on a holiday.
Anyway, Happy Easter to you, Belarusians! Christ is risen!”
