  • Democratic forces presented Belarus Green Economy Concept

    December 09, 2023

The whole world is aware that environmental issues must not be ignored. Belarus, having experienced the Chornobyl disaster, knows this particularly well. The depletion of natural resources, environmental pollution, and climate change require innovative and bold solutions, as well as a consistent and thoughtful environmental policy.

That is why the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE), in collaboration with the Economic Team of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office, developed the Green Economy Concept and reform proposals.

“Green economy is an integral element of national economic development, which prioritizes the well-being of people that does not harm the environment. This approach involves the use of modern technologies, rational resource allocation, and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions”, commented Aleś Alachnovič, Advisor on Economic Reforms and Head of the Economic Team at Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office and one of the project leaders.

Countries whose economic policy does not consider green technologies will not be able to sustain the global competitiveness of their products in the long term”, notes Aliaksandra Mamayeva, the Coordinator for Green Economy in the Economic Team of the Office.

What will the green economy bring to Belarus?

    – Energy independence from Russian gas.

    – Economic growth and job creation.

    – International investments.

    – Well-being and health of citizens.

Learn about the steps toward the green economy and explore the Concept on the website belarusgreeneconomy.eu/. Each of the sections of the Concept is available in English.
