– Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya presented the key priorities for the democratic forces’ international political work in 2023 during an expert discussion involving Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu and international political experts.
– On January 12, a new educational project for Belarusian children, Vasminoh (Octopus), was launched. The project has Telegram, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
– Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya responded to the families of political prisoners who had appealed for negotiations with the regime and more active efforts to achieve the release of their relatives from prisons. Political prisoners’ families and the Office agreed to hold a meeting to discuss possible steps.
– The Office’s team on education, led by Tatiana Shchyttsova, released the 21st issue of the Asveta Digest, as well as an additional issue covering a wide variety of opportunities and offerings from international universities available throughout 2023.
– Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya attended the opening of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's new office in Vilnius, thanked journalists for their work, and called for joint efforts to achieve the release of all those behind bars.
– Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Legal Issues Kristina Rikhter held a call with activists and the volunteers of the Office to discuss the new laws adopted by the regime in Belarus and the democratic forces’ efforts to hold the regime accountable.
– The Freedom Postcards initiative launched a campaign in cooperation with a group of illustrators to design personalized postcards for political prisoners, which their families will share with them.
– Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor for the Constitutional Reform and Interparliamentary Cooperation Anatoli Liabiedzka held a meeting with German MP Oliver Kaczmarek. Members of Germany’s Bundestag will form a group For Democratic Belarus.
– In March, the Seimas of Lithuania and the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will hold the Kalinowski conference in Washington. The agreement was reached as a result of Franak Viacorka and Anatoli Liabedzka’s meetings with Žygimantas Pavilionis, Chair of the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs.
– Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya gave interviews to Delfi (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), Radio France, Le Monde and Le Journal du Dimanche (France), Brestskaya Gazeta (Belarus), and took part in the TV3 talk show “In The Limelight” with Edmundas Jakilaitis (Lithuania).
