During Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s official visit to Prague, she was received by the Czech president at Prague Castle, where the president’s official residence is located. President Pavel wished Ms. Tsikhanouskaya a Happy Freedom Day and expressed support for the Belarusian people. During the meeting, the parties discussed support for political prisoners and steps towards their release, the work of the Office of Belarus Democratic Forces in the Czech Republic, cooperation and support for Ukraine, as well as the military and political situation in Belarus and the region.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya called on the president to support the mobility of Belarusians, including through issuing more visas. The Belarusian leader presented Mr. Pavel with the Cross of Good Neighborhood, an award given to foreigners for supporting democracy in Belarus. This was the third meeting between Petr Pavel and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, and their first official meeting in Prague.
