During its latest session, the Council of Europe’s Contact Group on Belarus outlined a series of measures aimed at strengthening democracy and human rights in the country.
The key step achieved was the agreement on seminars and training for Belarusian lawyers according to the Council of Europe standards, along with the translation of HELP (European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals). The educational campaign will also include masterclasses and seminars on abolishing the death penalty in Belarus.
The session also identified active steps to support youth initiatives and promote youth leadership. In particular, the sides agreed on a series of seminars and conferences to increase youth participation in the democratic process.
