On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners in Belarus, the Office of Belarus Democratic Forces in the Czech Republic, in partnership with Belarusian human rights defenders, activists, and democratic forces’ organizations and bodies, will hold the Congress on Belarus Political Prisoners. The event will take place on May 23-25 in Prague.
The congress will feature experts and politicians and focus on the situation with political prisoners – both those who are in Belarus and those who have left the country after imprisonment. Participants will discuss ways to release political prisoners and expand support for the repressed.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: ”Every day in detention is another day that political prisoners sacrifice for a free Belarus. Every day that political prisoners spend behind bars we should struggle for their freedom. The congress in Prague will be an opportunity to gather ideas, proposals, and efforts to develop strategies precisely for this goal – the release of political prisoners”.
