Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians
- Belarusians drew postcards dedicated to the war in Ukraine. The Art Defense project sends postcards in exchange for donations to Ukraine.
- Belarusians in Batumi, Georgia, held a rally in support of political prisoners. They read out the letters from Vitold Ashurak's, who died in prison on May 21, 2021.
- Day of the Political Prisoner rally took place in Vilnius.
- Belarusians in Poznan, Poland, demonstrated their solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners, whose number exceeded 1200.
- Belarusian artists painted new drawings in support of Ukraine.
- Belarusians of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, Poland, gathered to honor the memory of Vitold Ashurak.
- Hollywood director Ernie Barbarash created a mosaic of Belarusian political prisoners’ photographs.
- On the Day of the Political Prisoner, Belarusians of Bialystok, Poland, walked across the city with yellow flowers and tags, on which they wrote the names of Belarusian political prisoners.
- Belarusians in Prague rallied as a sign of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners.
- Belarusians in Vilnius picketed the regime’s embassy and held Day of the Political Prisoner pickets.
- Belarusians of Bydgoszcz, Poland, wrote letters to political prisoners.
Resistance
- Minsk residents joined the Day of Political Prisoners in Belarus.
- Belarusians in Barauliany held an action of solidarity with political prisoners.
- Belarusians wrote anti-war messages in Minsk.
- Belarusians honored the memory of Vitold Ashurak.
- Partisans of Kastsiukouka picketed to demand freedom for political prisoners.
- Belarusians in Homiel region dedicated their performance in the forest to political prisoners from Homiel.
Sabotage
- The Hajun project, which monitors the movements of Russian troops in Belarus, released an operational summary for the day.
- Hajun reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for May 21. After the regime failed to make itself a victim, diplomats started “pushing” for peace and friendship.
Awareness campaign
- Volunteers of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office held a Zoom meeting with Daria Rubleuskaya, human rights defender of Viasna and coordinator of one of its projects. Daria spoke about support for political prisoners, human rights activism, and death penalty in Belarus.
- The Vestnik, in its new issue, covers how schools force children to participate in propaganda activities, companies cut wages and reduce working hours. Belarusians distribute underground media to counter the regime’s propaganda.
