Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and with her advisors, Franak Viacorka and Anatoli Liabedzka, as well as representatives of the United Transitional Cabinet, met with the new Polish leadership – Sejm Speaker, Szymon Hołownia, and Senate Speaker, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska. The speakers pledged full support for Belarus’ democratic forces.
Discussions centered around the establishment of Belarusian schools in Poland and expansion of Belarusian-language education for children. The meetings also addressed internships for Belarusians in Polish state institutions, which could be organized within the Personnel Reserve project.
Agreement was reached on hearings on Belarus in the Sejm and Senate, which could result in a resolution. The document is expected to express support for Belarus’s European perspective, demand the immediate release of political prisoners, and call for holding the Lukashenka regime accountable.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya emphasized the issue of political prisoners. She spoke about recent convictions and arrests, as well as the many cases of incommunicado detention. The Speaker of the Sejm took patronage over one of the Belarusian political prisoners and called on other MPs to do the same.
