On July 5–7, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and her team were on a working visit to Rome. During the visit, the Belarusian leader met with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, MPs and Vice Speakers of Parliament, the leadership of Italy’s trade unions, and Belarusians living in Italy. The meetings emphasized visa issuance in Minsk, support for Belarusian volunteer fighters in Ukraine, rehabilitation for children of political prisoners, and scholarships for Belarusian students.
The visit resulted in the establishment of the group For Democratic Belarus in the Italian Parliament, which became the largest such group in the world. The MPs will support Belarusians and advocate for their interests in the international arena.
