During Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s visit to Australia, her team visited the country’s parliament and held a series of meetings with representatives of political parties.
As Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Parliamentary Cooperation, Anatoli Liabedzka, reports, these meetings could open the possibility of establishing a group “For Democratic Belarus” in the Australian parliament:
“Now, after a full day at the parliament, we can say that a new country could appear on the map of the ‘For Democratic Belarus’ International Parliamentary Alliance – and that country is Australia. There are preliminary agreements with the Speaker of the Parliament and representatives of two major parties represented in the parliament. We were able to engage our Australian partners and friends, showing that such a group would be beneficial both for Belarusians and for Australians”.
