Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Constitutional Reform and Parliamentary Cooperation, Anatoli Liabedzka, took part in the session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan. During the session, the process was launched to grant representatives of the democratic forces of Belarus observer status.
Representatives of the United Transitional Cabinet and the Coordination Council – Yury Hubarevich, Valery Matskevich, Alisa Ryzhychenka, and Artsiom Brukhan – also took part in the event.
Anatoli Liabedzka comments on the results: “We did everything necessary to ensure that at the next Assembly session, representatives of democratic Belarus can participate not as guests but as observers. This marks a qualitatively new level of engagement. Yes, changes to the procedures and statutes will be required, but when there is political will – and it exists – the process will move from de facto to de jure. I thank the MEPs, members of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, and the entire Belarusian delegation for their joint work and synergy”.
In addition, during the Euronest session, an initiative of the Parliamentary Alliance “For Democratic Belarus” and “Positive Alternative” was presented, becoming part of the roadmap for Belarus’ European integration.
Anatoli Liabedzka expressed gratitude for the cooperation of parliamentarians from Ukraine and Moldova, where “For Democratic Belarus” groups are active, and invited the Armenian Parliament to join the Alliance. He also proposed cooperation on reforms and draft laws.
The Belarusian delegation continues its work on international platforms to ensure that the voice of democratic Belarus is heard.
