Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya visited the exhibition “The Forest Hears, the Field Sees” by renowned Belarusian musician and artist Lavon Volski, currently on display at the Free Belarus Museum in Warsaw.
The exhibition features a series of twelve paintings, each inspired by a specific Belarusian proverb or saying. The project combines visual art with folk wisdom, offering a contemporary interpretation of Belarusian cultural heritage.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya highlighted the importance of such cultural initiatives and shared her impressions: “This exhibition shows how Belarusian culture continues to live and evolve, wherever Belarusians may be. In Lavon’s works, you can feel warmth, a touch of sadness, and a deep respect for our culture. They are very moving and vivid — they resonate within you and stay in your memory.
I found myself wanting to spend a long time looking at each painting and searching for my own meanings in it.
These are not just illustrations of proverbs but a deeply personal and sincere dialogue with the Belarusian soul. Through these images, you feel something very familiar and close to each of us opening up”.
