On March 12, during her working visit to Latvia, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a meeting with the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže.
The parties discussed the issue of political prisoners and the humanitarian efforts to achieve their release and support them, including those who have been released and their families. They addressed the possibility of new contributions to the International Humanitarian Fund.
Minister Braže and Ms. Tsikhanouskaya discussed practical steps for Belarusians in Latvia, including possible technical solutions that would allow people to maintain mobility and stay connected with their relatives.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked Latvia for its constant attention to the Belarusian issue and for supporting Belarusians who have found themselves in difficult circumstances.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “It is important for us that Belarusians in Latvia feel safe, are not left alone with their problems in exile, and are able to stay connected with their loved ones. The regime must not be allowed to isolate Belarusian society”.
