  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Petr Macinka. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya thanked the Czech Republic for supporting Belarus and Belarusian initiatives. The parties discussed the releases of political prisoners, support for the Belarusian diaspora, and the activities of the Mission of Belarus Democratic Forces in Prague.

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya invited Petr Macinka to visit the Mission, and in turn, Minister Macinka invited Ms. Tsikhanouskaya to Prague. They discussed the domestic political situation in Belarus and the need to continue efforts to end repression and achieve democratic change in the country. They also addressed the issue of visas, with Ms. Tsikhanouskaya asking Minister Macinka to consider increasing the number of visas issued by the Czech Republic.

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “It is a great honor for me to meet with the new Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic. I spoke about our mission in Prague, our historical ties with Czechia, and our desire to deepen relations and cooperation. I also mentioned that the party that nominated Minister Macinka had included support for a free Belarus in its election program. Minister Macinka assured me that, despite all the changes in the Czech Republic, support for Belarus and Belarusian initiatives will continue and that Belarusians can count on him”.
