  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s speech at the commemoration rally for those killed in Ukraine

    February 03, 2026

    Dear compatriots,

    Dear Ukrainian friends,

Thank you sincerely to all of you for attending this event. Special thanks to the organizers, the Ukrainian and Belarusian diaspora in Lithuania. Today, our support is more important for Ukraine than ever.

The full-scale war has been ongoing for nearly four years. The aggressors are frenzied in their impotence, and in their frenzy, they spare no cruelty or atrocity.

They are waging war against the Ukrainian people, because it is in the people – brave and strong – that Ukraine’s greatest treasure lies.

After these four years of trials, the whole world knows: Ukrainians will endure and persevere. They cannot be broken.

In the past, many tyrants tried to destroy the Ukrainian nation, but all failed. The same will happen this time with Putin and Lukashenka.

Every day, Ukrainians – and also Belarusians, Tatars, and other peoples of Ukraine – show that democracy is stronger than an inhuman imperial regime, and that it is worth defending.

Belarusians have made and continue to make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s victory. Volunteers from the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment sacrifice themselves daily on the frontlines. On January 19, Aliaksei Lazarau, an activist from Minsk, died at the age of 27. A year ago, Masha Zaitsava from Homiel passed away at 24. More than 80 people have given their lives for the freedom of Ukraine – and Belarus.

Recently, Belarusians from the Sustrecha Volunteer Center opened a Point of Invincibility in Kyiv to support everyone during these difficult times.

This cold winter is especially harsh for Ukraine. Homes lack heating, light, and electricity. Let our solidarity, even a little, warm people. And our donations will help them obtain the essentials.

Dear Ukrainians, remember: Belarusians are on your side. Belarusians are not the regime.

During recent meetings in Vilnius marking the anniversary of the January Uprising, we again saw the unity of our countries: Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus. We are grateful to President Zelenskyy for his sincere support of Belarusians’ struggle for democracy.

Belarus and Ukraine are part of democratic Europe. And I believe that together, we will overcome Russian imperialism and achieve a just peace.

For our freedom and yours! Glory to Ukraine! Long Live Belarus!
