  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with Armenian President Vahagn Khachatryan

    January 24, 2026

During the World Economic Forum in Davos, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held an official meeting with the President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachatryan. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya expressed solidarity with the people of Armenia, welcomed the resolution of the Armenia–Azerbaijan crisis, and praised the Armenian government’s course toward strengthening relations with the European Union. She noted that Belarusians would like to see Armenia as a “democratic, independent, and thriving country” and emphasized the special closeness and friendship between the Armenian and Belarusian peoples.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked Armenia for refusing to extradite persecuted Belarusians at the requests of the Lukashenka regime and for ensuring that Belarusians in Armenia can feel safe.

The parties discussed regional security, the situation in Belarus, and joint activities in international formats, including participation in the European Political Community Summit to be held in Yerevan. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya expressed hope that she would finally visit Armenia this year, as her planned visit in the fall for the EuroNest Summit did not take place.

On the sidelines of the forum, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also held brief talks with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “I am grateful to Armenia for its principled stance and support for Belarusians. I am glad that both the President and the government maintain communication with our democratic forces, allowing us to address practical issues. Thanks to these contacts, we were able to save several Belarusians last year from possible extradition and, in some cases, resolve matters related to legal stay and documents. It is important for us to know that Armenia’s position remains consistent, and we will continue to cooperate”.

From January 19 to 22, 2026, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya participated for the fourth consecutive year in the World Economic Forum in Davos alongside international leaders, giving two speeches in the main program, attending closed briefings and meetings, and holding discussions on the sidelines.
