Siarhei Tsikhanouski and Dzianis Kuchynski, Diplomatic Advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, met at the White House today with Charles McLaughlin, Special Assistant to President Trump and Senior Director for European Affairs.
The meeting focused on the next steps toward securing the release of all political prisoners in Belarus and finding mechanisms to stop the ongoing repression.
Siarhei Tsikhanouski emphasized that the US media pays little attention to the release of political prisoners and to President Donald Trump’s role in this process.
He thanked President Trump for his recent release after five years of imprisonment and for his efforts to free 1,300 political hostages in Belarus. He stressed that this was not just an individual decision by Trump but a clear demonstration of support for freedom and human dignity.
“It is truly important to keep this issue on the agenda because we are talking about people’s lives. If President Trump succeeds in securing the release of political prisoners in Belarus, it will be a great victory both for the White House and for free Belarus”, noted Siarhei Tsikhanouski.
Dzianis Kuchynski emphasized: “We continue our cooperation with the US administration on the release of political prisoners and the end of repression in Belarus. This is a key step on the path toward freedom and democracy in our country”.
