During her visit to Luxembourg, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a meeting with Germany’s new State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office, Gunther Krichbaum. The meeting served as an opportunity to establish contact with representatives of the new German government and coordinate steps to support democratic change in Belarus.
Mr. Krichbaum and Ms. Tsikhanouskaya discussed:
- Belarus’ position in the context of the war in Ukraine and the risks the current regime poses to the country’s independence and sovereignty;
- Support for civil society, independent media, and initiatives focused on the rehabilitation of former political prisoners;
- An upcoming visit to Berlin, meetings with representatives of the new government, and cooperation with the Bundestag’s parliamentary group “For a Democratic Belarus”;
- Further deepening of the democratic forces’ cooperation with the EU to address Belarus-related issues.
