Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Today is the anniversary of the founding of the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, and this date has already become part of our new history – a history of choosing responsibility and dignity.
Belarusian volunteers are our modern-day heroes. They looked a criminal in the eye and were not afraid to go where there was risk and death. And they did so because their conscience does not allow them to remain indifferent.
Belarusians have always stood on the side of truth and justice, and they have proven again and again that Belarusians don’t say that “it’s not my problem”. Belarusians volunteer across Ukraine and beyond. Belarusians collect humanitarian aid in different countries; they donate, run Points of Invincibility, help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and fight in their ranks.
One day, this date will be in history textbooks as a reminder that even when dictatorship ruled in Belarus, Belarusians still chose freedom.
