During her working visit to Iceland, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya took part in the Nordic Council session, where she met with the prime ministers and foreign ministers of Nordic countries and attended the speech by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
At the session held in Reykjavik, the Belarusian leader met with the heads of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya urged them to lead the international agenda on Belarus and make every effort to secure the release of political prisoners in Belarus. She also invited them to support Belarusians in resolving visa and migration issues they face in exile. She thanked the leaders for their countries’ ongoing support of human rights defenders, repressed Belarusians, independent media, and student scholarships.
During the session, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya gave interviews to Icelandic and international media and held a joint press conference with foreign ministers.
