On December 6-7, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will participate in the Belarus–USA Strategic Dialogue in Washington. The Belarusian side will be represented by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office, the United Transitional Cabinet, the Coordination Council, the Viasna Human Rights Center, the BEROC think-tank, the Press Club Belarus, the EuroBelarus NGO, the Workers’ Movement, the Association of Belarusians in America (ABA), the Cyber Partisans, Association of Belarusian Business Abroad (ABBA) and independent media.
In an op-ed for The Washington Post, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya emphasized, “The Strategic Dialogue will take the cooperation between the USA and democratic forces to a new level. This can change the game in our thirty-year struggle for freedom. I hope this will give us a chance to return Belarus to democracy and liberate it from Russia’s grip. Once and for all”.
During the Strategic Dialogue, discussions will center around human rights issues, ways to achieve the release of political prisoners, the development of the private sector in Belarus’ economy, and the Russian threat to the country’s sovereignty. The discussions will also cover visa and migration issues faced by Belarusians.
