Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, together with Siarhei Tsikhanouski, met with the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Belarus during an extended session in Strasbourg, which brought together MEPs and their deputies from various political groups.
The meeting focused on:
- support for and release of political prisoners;
- cooperation between Belarus’ democratic forces and European institutions;
- the roadmap for Belarus’ European integration.
Sviatlana called on MEPs to enhance Belarus’ visibility within the European Parliament’s structures by organizing more events, discussions, and cultural initiatives dedicated to Belarus. The parties also discussed the upcoming presentation in December – the introduction of a legislative package aimed at preparing Belarus for European integration.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “We must not save Lukashenka from Putin. We must save Belarus from both. The future of Belarus is a ‘Belarusian home in the European quarter’, not a return to Moscow’s sphere of influence. With your support, consistency, and courage, we will achieve this!”
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya expressed her gratitude to the delegation’s leadership – Małgorzata Gosiewska, Tomas Tobé, and Michał Kobosko – for their consistent position and support for Belarus. She also noted the efforts that led to journalist Andrzej Poczobut being awarded the Sakharov Prize.
