The Belarusian leader addressed the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag. She called on the MPs to adopt a resolution in support of Belarus, which aims to support democratic forces, civil society, and independent media while condemning the crimes of Lukashenka’s regime.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya emphasized the unacceptability of equating Belarusians to the Lukashenka regime. She reminded of the numerous quiet sabotage acts that Belarusians carry out within the country – and emphasized the people’s opposition to the Russian aggression.
“Belarusians demonstrated their clear stance: we are against this war. We do support Ukraine. Unlike Russians, Belarusians have made a clear decision for democracy and the rule of law. We must understand: Ukraine won’t be safe without free Belarus”.
In addition, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya called on the members of the Bundestag to address the legal problems faced by Belarusians in exile.
