  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya honored Belarusian Anzacs in Australia

    November 08, 2025

During her visit to Australia, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya paid tribute to the Belarusian Anzacs – natives of Belarus who fought in the ranks of the Australian Army during World War I.

On Friday, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya laid flowers at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne and took part in an official ceremony alongside representatives of the Belarusian diaspora and Australian authorities. Earlier in Sydney, she had also visited the Anzac War Memorial to honor the soldiers among whom were people born in Belarus.

“This is a tribute to those Belarusians who fought for freedom and justice alongside Australians and New Zealanders. Their stories are part of both Australian and Belarusian history. They remind us that our nations are united by shared values and a common readiness to defend human dignity”, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya noted.
