The Belarusian leader conducted a call to meet for the first time with the Belarusian diaspora in Cyprus. Representatives of the diaspora talked about their work and initiatives they are involved in and shared their problems, including issues with the legalization of stay and visas. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked them for their civic activity and advocacy for Belarusians’ interests in Cypriot politics. During the dialogue, both sides discussed possible ways to expand the Belarusian agenda in the country.
It is worth noting that the Belarusian diaspora in Cyprus has not had long-term and stable relations with Ms. Tsikhanouskaya’s Office before. The leader emphasized that it is essential to support the diaspora and stay in touch with Belarusians even in the most remote parts of the world.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “I am always happy to have an honest conversation with Belarusians. I appreciate that people share their ideas, initiatives, and plans with me. It is important to maintain connections, even if we are separated by thousands of kilometers. Each conversation, even an online one, allows us to support each other and find ways for cooperation and assistance”.
