Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a telephone conversation with the Assistant Secretary of State of the United States, James O’Brien. During the discussion, they talked about the situation in Belarus, the new Belarusian passport project, and the upcoming Strategic Dialogue with the United States.
The Strategic Dialogue between democratic Belarus and the US is set to commence on December 6-7 in Washington. In addition to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, representatives from the United Transition Cabinet, the Coordination Council, NGOs, independent media, trade unions, and youth organizations will participate.
From 2022 to 2023, James O’Brien coordinated sanctions-related matters in the US government, including sanctions against Belarus. Prior to 2022, he served as an Advisor to the US President on National Security and as the US Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs.
