One of the most important political events of the year, the Belarus–USA Strategic Dialogue, continues in Washington. Today’s discussions will focus on:
✔️ assistance to the private sector and Belarusian businesses;
✔️ support for independent media and combating disinformation.
Franak Viacorka, Chief Advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, spoke about the participants of the Dialogue, plans for the second day, and possible outcomes of the negotiations:
“The first section will aim to develop a cooperation plan: what the American private sector can do for Belarusian companies, how it can support repressed entrepreneurs in exile, as well as show Belarusians a positive alternative for the future.
In the section dedicated to the media, we will discuss combating disinformation. It is crucial for repressed independent Belarusian journalists to have the support of the United States. American technology companies could help the media with practical issues. The Dialogue may produce agreements on holding joint events, training, and internships for our journalists and bloggers”.
