The Belarusian leader met with the Mayor of Riga, Vilnis Ķirsis, discussed holding joint cultural events and exhibitions in the city’s museums to draw the attention of Latvians to the situation in Belarus. The cooperation between Belarusians of Latvia, democratic forces, and the city leadership resulted in one of Riga’s squares being renamed after Francysk Skaryna.
The Belarusian leader also visited the National Library, where she was shown a rare copy of the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya presented the library with the book “Belarus” by Uladzimir Arlou, which will be displayed in the central hall, along with several other books by Belarusian authors.
