The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Ivan Korčok called Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya from Brussels, where the EU Foreign Ministers are holding meetings.
Ivan Korčok told that the topic of Belarus and the adoption of the EU Comprehensive Assistance Plan for Belarus was raised during the meeting – and Slovakia supports this initiative. Let us recall that last week Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya sent a letter to the EU Foreign Ministers calling for the adoption and publication of this plan.
On the call with the Minister, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that the fourth package of sanctions, which is currently under discussion, would help to pressure the regime to stop violence, release political prisoners, and start a dialogue about the new election in Belarus.
Leader of democratic Belarus also thanked Minister Korčok for Slovakia's support of Belarusians, for programs of assistance for repressed Belarusians, independent media, researchers. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya also stressed that it is very important to hold the summit of Eastern Partnership 2021 without illegitimate Lukashenka and with the participation of leaders of the democratic forces of Belarus.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Ivan Korčok had already met in October last year during the visit of the Belarusian leader to Bratislava.
