The US, Canada, the UK, and the EU have issued a joint statement — they adopted sanctions against the regime. Ukraine has also joined the sanctions. This morning, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the EU foreign ministers, and they assured her of unity on the issue of Belarus.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Today the entire democratic world has shown unprecedented unity. This is an important signal that Belarus is not alone. It is also an important signal to all supporters of the regime that impunity no longer exists. Belarus now has many friends worldwide, ready to stand for us, our students and human rights defenders, our doctors and workers, political prisoners, and journalists. I am sure that together we will leave the regime in the past – to advance a future in which all our loved ones return home, and we vote together in a new presidential election. We have earned this freedom, this victory, and this new Belarus”.
