Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a call with the Foreign Minister of Greece, Nikos Dendias. This is their second meeting – the first was held last autumn in Bratislava.
During the call:
– they discussed the escalation of repression in Belarus, the need to support civil society, and international pressure on the regime;
– Ms. Tsikhanouskaya stressed the principled position to resolve the Belarusian crisis peacefully. The Minister supported Ms. Tsikhanouskaya’s call for dialogue and negotiations;
– Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke about the persecution of journalists and the history of the head of the Intex-Press Uladzimir Janukevich, who is threatened by a criminal case for interviewing her;
– stressed the need for coordination between the European Union and the United States on the crisis in Belarus;
– Minister Dendias invited Ms. Tsikhanouskaya to visit Greece on an official visit.
