The King in Belgium is the head of state and represents Belgium at the Davos Forum along with the Prime Minister. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya told the King about the recent trials, prison conditions, rail partisans, and the United Transitional Cabinet, and urged him to support the initiative to establish an international fund to support the repressed.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya invited the King and the Belgian leadership to attend the opening of the Mission for Democratic Belarus in Brussels.
They also discussed the potential deployment of Belarusian troops in Ukraine and shelling from Belarusian territory. Ms. Tsikhanouska stressed that the regime has surrendered control over Belarus’ military facilities and territory to Russia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, who was also present at the meeting, noted that Belgium would financially support the International Accountability Platform for Belarus, which collects evidence of the crimes committed by the Lukashenka regime, and human rights defenders in Belarus. Belgium also stands against a general visa ban for Belarus while supporting sanctions against the regime’s henchmen.
