  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called on Belarusians to support repressed teachers

    September 30, 2023

On the eve of Teacher's Day in Belarus, the teams of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office and the Hutka.help initiative shared a list of Belarusian teachers who need support. Hutka.help is not a foundation. Instead of raising funds, it shares the bank details of the repressed, thus giving people the opportunity to support them directly.

Anton Dzeruchenka is a history teacher and editor of the Belarusian Wikipedia, who has contributed to over 20,000 articles. He has fled Belarus and needs help to continue living in his new country. Anton can give lectures on the history of Belarus or tours of museums in Warsaw.

Iryna has worked for 30 years as a geography teacher. She first fled persecution by the regime, and then had to flee the war in Ukraine. Iryna seeks both financial assistance and job offers, preferably remote.

Aliaksandr Murashou is a Doctor of Education, Ph.D. in Philology, and a former professor at the Journalism Department of Yanka Kupala State University. In 2020, he wrote an open letter to Lukashenka. Aliaksandr needs funds to publish his works.

Tatsiana is a former daycare attendant who left Belarus due to pressure from the regime. Her daughter has been detained five times. Tatsiana needs help to legalize her stay abroad and settle down.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya urged Belarusians to support each other, as well as keep up the solidarity and remain compassionate because support for others makes us all better people.
