Belarusian Sport Solidarity Foundation sent a letter to the International Olympic Committee with an appeal to deprive Belarusian National State TV and Radio Company of the right to broadcast the Olympic Games. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya supported the Foundation’s initiative by addressing the International Olympic Committee on her official Twitter page.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Summer Olympics begin on July 23. We are sure that such a large sports competition cannot be shown on Belarusian state television, which encourages violence over Belarusians and shows interrogations of hostages – during the broadcast of matches Euro-2020 on the company showed quotes from “interview” with hostage Raman Pratasevich.
I support the Belarusian Sport Solidarity Foundation initiative to give the rights to broadcast the Olympics to the independent Belarusian channel Belsat. This is fully in line with the resolution of the European Parliament of June 10, and it will allow Belarusians to watch fair sports without the regime's propaganda”.
