Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.
Here is an overview of the Movement on May 11.
Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians
- Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, during her visit to the Czech Republic, arranged for the Czech lawmakers to exclude Belarus from the bill that would have banned Belarusians’ relocation to the country. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya said the Czech Foreign Minister and President assured her that the bill will be revised to take into account the interests of Belarusians.
- In partnership with Lithuania’s largest initiative Blue / Yellow for Ukraine, the BYSOL Foundation prepared and packed 18 tactical medical kits for volunteers in Ukraine.
- Belarusian activist Tatsiana Svirepa launched a bot to provide psychological assistance to those affected by the war. The bot is built upon a database of crisis psychologists obtained from the Free Belarus Center. Tatsiana explained how the bot works in an interview – listen to it in Russian.
- Humanitarian aid, including Israel-made bandages, tourniquets, and hemostatics, was sent to Odesa and Mykolaiv, Ukraine. Belarusians from the diaspora in the UK and Poland raised funds for the aid thanks to NaviBand’s benefit concert in Krakow, Poland.
- Since the beginning of the war, the BYSOL Foundation has already purchased and sent 20 vehicles to Ukraine. BYSOL sent the twentieth one to the Belarus Illia “Litvin'' unit volunteers in Odesa. Belarusians raised the funds for the cars.
- Pavel Latushka, head of the National Anti-Crisis Management, held a meeting with French Foreign Ministry Special Representative Nicolas de Lacoste. They discussed further steps to increase international legal pressure on the regime, continue cooperation on universal jurisdiction and proper documentation of war crimes, and to support the Anti-War Movement in Belarus.
- The ŻYVI Foundation sent food for delivery to Ukraine.
- Belarusians in London gathered for a rally in support of the defenders of Mariupol, to draw international attention to the people at the besieged Azovstal who need help.
Resistance
- Belarusians in Minsk held a picket for Belarus without Lukashenka. They supported a resident of the town Zhabinka who was arrested for saying “Belarus without Lukashenka”.
- Belarusians in Barauliany expressed gratitude to the Belarus Kastus Kalinouski battalion fighting in Ukraine.
Sabotage
- Also, “Belaruski Hayun” published a review of the main events of Belarusian propaganda about the war in Ukraine for May 10.
- The Hajun project, which monitors the movements of Russian troops in Belarus, released an operational summary for the day. It consists mostly of movements of Belarusian equipment presumably linked to military exercises. No major movements of Russians were reported.
- Hajun also reviewed the Belarusian propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine. Propagandists said Ukraine must capitulate, defended the regimes in Russia and Belarus as they are “fighting for peace”, and spoke about “Western masterminds”.
Awareness campaign
- Thanks to Belarusians’ reports, social media have already blocked 34 propagandists' accounts for inciting hatred and war propaganda, with Telegram blocking seven accounts of GUBOPIK, a regime’s “law enforcement” agency, as each time it kept creating new ones. The Stop Propaganda channel published a list of Belarusians’ achievements – the blocked accounts advocating war and violence against people.
- Coda Story released a piece about Belarusians and the underground publications they create and distribute to counter the regime’s propaganda and share honest information.
