  • Responsibility of Lukashenka’s Regime for Crimes Against Humanity and Migrant Crisis: Prospects for International Justice

    On June 12, Vilnius will host an international conference “Responsibility of Lukashenka’s Regime for Crimes Against Humanity and Migrant Crisis: Prospects for International Justice,” organized by the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice in partnership with the Law and Democracy Center.

    In addition to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the conference will be attended by Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, Minister of Justice Ewelina Dobrowolska, head of the Law and Democracy Centre Dainius Žalimas, and UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Belarus Anaïs Marin. Kristina Rikhter, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Advisor on Legal Affairs, will take part in the panel discussion involving Lithuania’s and Poland’s Prosecutor Generals. The conference will also be attended by representatives of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office and the United Transitional Cabinet.

    • The conference will discuss:

    – the repressive policies of the Lukashenka regime and proof of its crimes against humanity;
    – the most suitable mechanisms for achieving international justice, including the creation of a special international tribunal;
    – continued work on criminal cases within universal jurisdiction.
