  • Raman Pratasevich was taken hostage at Minsk Airport. Immediate taken steps from the Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office

    – Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s team contacted Raman’s parents and offered help.

    – The Office contacted the Lithuanian government to find out whether Lithuania was aware of what was going on. The parliamentarians stated that the flight was to land in Vilnius and all responsibility for the incident was on the Belarusian side.

    – Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya made an online call with Pavel Latushko and NAM to develop a unified response position.

    – The Office contacted Ryanair’s office in Dublin and called the company to gather information to launch an investigation into the incident.

    – Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya made emergency calls to Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Irish European Minister Thomas Byrne. It encouraged Greece, Ireland, Lithuania and Poland to initiate an investigation into the incident and to raise the issue at tomorrow’s Council of Europe meeting. It is also important to increase pressure against the Lukashenka regime – including the imposition of new sanctions, the ban on flights over Belarus and the exclusion of Belarus from the International Civil Aviation Organization.

    – The Office sent a request to the International Civil Aviation Organization and also contacted the French and German Foreign Ministries, encouraging them to initiate a detailed investigation, as the incident could be considered an act of State terrorism.

    – The international partners with whom Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya contacted stated that they would not allow the regime's act left unpunished.
