On April 1, the Polish Interior Ministry working group on Belarusians in Poland held its second session. Acting Representative on Legal Affairs of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office Kristina Rikhter, head of the Center for Belarusan Solidarity legal department (CBS) Volha Dabravolskaya, and the National Anti-Crisis Management representative Mikhail Kirilyuk spoke on behalf of the democratic forces.
The Polish and Belarusian sides discussed the on-coming amendments in Polish law for foreigners. Based on the suggestions made at the previous session by the Office and CBS, the Ministry has prepared amendments to a special law to enable Belarusians to:
– get humanitarian visas in Poland;
– obtain a special 3-year residence permit on humanitarian grounds. Such residence permits safeguard access to the labor market;
– get Polish travel documents based on temporary residence permits.
The Parliament will consider these amendments next week.
