  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for June 21

    June 22, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.

Here is an overview of the Movement on June 21.

    Support for Belarusians and Ukrainians

    • A rally in support of Ukraine was held in Krakow.
    • Hrodna actors and actresses staged and performed “The Play that Didn't Took Place” about the Mariupol Theater.
    • Pavel Latushka held a meeting with the European Parliament Rapporteur on Belarus, MEP Petras Auštrevičius.
    • FreeShop Fundacja ŻYVI sent humanitarian aid to the charitable foundation “Z Odesa v Serci”.
    • A conference on Belarus was held in the European Parliament for the first time since 2020. In Brussels, the Prime Ministers of Poland and Lithuania, European deputies, representatives of the Coordinating Council and the Tsikhanouskaya’s Office, as well as Belarusian media, human rights activists and NGOs spoke at the event.
    • Belarusians of Bydgoszcz held a demonstration in support of Kalinouski regiment.
    • Symbal.by, a store with national symbols and folk-inspired merch is back – their goods can now be ordered on the Redbubble marketplace.
    • The European Union will continue to impose sanctions against Aliaksandr Lukashenka's regime and support civil society in Belarus, said EU Ambassador Dirk Schuebel on June 21 at the Kalinowski Conference in the European Parliament.

    Resistance

    • Belarusians of Barauliany came out for a picket to remind: Belarus will become a free country.
    • Minsk residents of the Chkalauski region thanked Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “Two years ago we made our choice. It seemed random then, but now it's clear that if it was a chance, it was a happy one.”

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun monitoring project tracked the movements of Russian troops in Belarus for June 21.
    • Hajun also reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for June 20: state TV continues to broadcast reports based on the results of the trip to Donbas by a group of Belarusian propagandists.

    Awareness campaign

    • A new issue of the leaflet Protestnaya Belarus was released, telling about wiretapping of all foreign embassies by the security forces, book seizures, “patriotic education”.
    • A new leaflet Protest Homiel tells about the compulsory subscription of Homiel residents to propaganda newspapers, showing off in Rahachou, etc.
    • A new underground leaflet Word of Belarusians was launched. In the first issue, they write about how Belarusian enforcement officers torture refugees in Bruzgi, what is wrong with the upcoming pension reform, how much food costs in peaceful Minsk and war-torn Kyiv, and how the trial of Vaukavysk entrepreneur Mikalai Autukhovich goes.
    • Belarusian project Reporters tells how Lukashenka leaves Belarusian children to die, while Poland spends millions of dollars on their treatment.
    • The media Kyky.org published a video where Tribuna co-founder Dzmitry Navosha, cultural analyst Maksim Zhbankou, and Anastasiya Kostyugova, strategic communications officer at Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office, argue that the statement “Belarusians and Russians are in the same boat” is a farce and has nothing to do with the real state of affairs.
    • “Behind the roar of tanks and loud headlines I urge you to remember about Belarus as well.” Main message from Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s speech at the Kalinowsky Forum.
