President Duda received Ms. Tsikhanouskaya at his residence, Belweder Palace in Warsaw.
The President expressed his support for Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the entire democratic movement. For her part, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya thanked the President and the entire Polish government for the latest changes in the legislation aimed at simplifying the regulations of stay for Belarusians in Poland.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya spoke about the newly established United Transitional Cabinet, mentioning the first resolution adopted by the Cabinet, which marked the decision to support Ukraine and Belarusian military volunteers. The national leader of democratic Belarus also spoke about the major fields of work of each of the representatives of the Cabinet.
Andrzej Duda and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also discussed:
- the situation with political prisoners in Belarus: sentences are getting worse, conditions in prisons are deteriorating. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya emphasized that the situation is critical and requires an international response.
- the results of the UN General Assembly, as well as subsequent actions in the international arena, particularly in the OSCE, which Poland presides over until the end of the year. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya proposed to the President to hold several high-level meetings in early December in Poland on the situation in Belarus.
- potential involvement of the Belarusian military in the war against Ukraine. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya declared its inadmissibility.
- possible events and meetings in the format of the Lublin Quadrangle, including Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine and Belarus.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya commented on the meeting: “The President of Poland is a great friend of Belarus, he perfectly understands our situation and the challenges we face. I am grateful to him for always bringing up our country and our struggle at every international venue. We have agreed on a number of concrete steps and activities in December this year.”
