  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for June 7

    June 08, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.

Here is an overview of the Movement on June 7.

    Support for Belarusians and Ukrainians

    • Franak Viacorka, advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, answered questions about visas and residence permits for Belarusians in the Czech Republic. He also added about Ms. Tsikhanouskaya’s visit to Latvia, which will start on June 8.
    • Belarusian artist Anastasiya Rydlevskaya draws about the war in Ukraine.
    • The first group of fighters of the regiment Pahonia signed a contract with the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine.
    • The Ukrainian band Kolir in 2016 released a song on the words of Belarusian political prisoner Andrei Aliaksandrau. Today the “trial” over Mr. Aliaksandrau began.
    • Olha Yakubouskaya drew Belarusian musicians who performed a cover of the Kalush Orchestra song “Stefania”.
    • The Majority Movement chat-bot shared the results for three months: Belarusians in the country and abroad completed almost 20 thousand tasks in three months. See these and other results here
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will visit Latvia. As part of the visit, the national leader of Belarus is going to resolve the issues of the Belarusian diaspora and the visa issuance, visit the Belarusian humanitarian center for helping Ukrainians and take part in the ceremony of raising the Belarusian national flag and laying flowers at the monument to the victims of the Soviet occupation in Riga.
    • The Kastus Kalinouski regiment thanks the humanitarian organization Volunteer Hundred and Yulia for 1000 dry rations purchased for Belarusian volunteers.
    • Belarusian performance artist Uladzislau Bokhan held near the Gedeon Richter Polska building in Grodzisk Mazowiecki the performance “Injection”.
    • Belarusians in Lviv donated gifts to orphanages.

    Resistance

    • Belarusians in Minsk supported political prisoner Pavel Kuchynski, who received 5 years in a colony of strict regime for comments. Pavel has stage IV cancer.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun monitoring project tracked the movements of Russian troops in Belarus for June 6.
    • Hajun also reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for June 7. Propaganda continues to saddle the topic of exporting Ukrainian grain through Belarus. The regime seized on the resolution of the grain issue with a number of goals: to remind of itself, to enter the negotiation process, to show itself as a political player at the regional level. Against this background, it also strives to lift a few of the imposed sanctions, which “have no effect on the economy at all, and create new opportunities”.

    Awareness campaign

    • “Every Belarusian pays a tax on Lukashenka”. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya explains what the war in Ukraine is already costing Belarusians.
    • A new issue of the Protestnaya Belarus was released.
    • The Honest People has calculated how much taxes of Belarusians will go to maintain propagandists: 154.6 million rubles. For comparison, it is planned to spend 69.3 million on environmental protection and 135.2 million on fundamental scientific research. At the same time, only 17.7 million – 9 times less than for the state media — are allocated to small and medium-sized businesses, which need support during the crisis the most.
