Today Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the Belarusian diaspora in Washington.
Tsikhanouskaya: ‘I’m an ordinary Belarusian too. And the responsibility lies on each of us. A question is asked: “What can we do to change everything?” But we’re already doing. It will not be like something happens, and everything changes. It will not be like someone comes and saves everyone. It’s in the hands of the Belarusians inside the country – and you and us. It’s a process. And we’re actually winning. We’ve been withstanding for a year already. They have weapons, they have strength, they are trying to silence people.
Every bit of help is important. And when there’re 9 million of us, it’s a whole sea full of help. So keep doing what you’re doing: write to political prisoners, help financially, talk about us, communicate with local governance, get involved in solidarity actions. It’s international support – and it puts much pressure on the regime.
